Holistic approval for the use of the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Domain as a Place of Public Entertainment for temporary events, and erection of structures associated with these events, for a 5 year period. The Gardens and the Domain are used for marquee events (eg: private and corporate), public events (eg: memorial, sporting events, community concerts, dance party, music festivals, open air cinema and city-wide events) and filming (eg, small scale private shoots). On average approximately 42 public events and 45 marquee events are held each year. The applicant is the Botanical Gardens Trust.

The events are: Harbourlife, Walk for Aids, Homebake, Carols, New Years Eve and three private marquee functions. This application has been lodged concurrently with D/2008/1676 which seeks holistic approval for the use of the Gardens and the Domain as a place of public entertainment over a 5 year period.
